ADVICE FROM A LONDON EXPERT

Welcome to London Localite!

After eight years of exploring London, I created this website to share everything I’d discovered along the way. From underrated museums to opinions on the best boroughs, London Localite will help you experience the city authentically.

New to London, born and bred, or on holiday – find unfiltered tips and recommendations from someone who actually lives here. I’ll help you make the most of your time in London, one hidden gem at a time.

A little about me…

Originally from Hastings, I swapped the seaside for the capital, a career, and new adventures… and haven’t really looked back.

Over the years, I’ve had some amazing experiences exploring London as both a local and a tourist. I’ve uncovered hidden gems, found the places actual Londoners hang out, and worked out which tourist spots are worth venturing into central London for.

Currently, I live in Haringey, North London, with my partner and our kitten, Lennie.

London’s Hidden Gems

Not everything worth seeing in London ends up on a top 10 list. The best spots are often tucked away in less-visited areas, down quiet side streets, or hidden in plain sight – places you might walk past if no one told you they were worth exploring.

Take advantage of the insight that I’ve spent years accumulating. Under the London’s Hidden Gems section, you’ll find places worth knowing about, off the tourist trail. From warehouse parties in Hackney Wick to cute cafes in Stoke Newington, these are locally known spots that make London special.

Living in London

Hackney

Hackney’s one of those areas people think they know, usually summed up by Shoreditch nightlife and a bit of street art. But spend some proper time here and you’ll find so much more. I lived and worked in Hackney for four years, and it quickly became one of my favourite parts of the city.

With big green spaces, some of London’s best bakeries, weekend markets, and independent shops and cafes, this is the side of Hackney I always come back to.
